I think that's a very good idea. We should come up with a list tailored for this particular group. Maybe 30 songs.

Miserlou-Dick Dale
Sleepwalk-Santo & Johnny
Jack the Ripper-Link Wray

I like the surf set list. I can play some of those. I'm trying to remember the name of another one I learned off one of the LP versionos of "The Very Best of the Ventures", but I can't remember.

Har! We'll be playing more songs than that! Good idea though; We usually include a few Byrds numbers, but since the Byrds Collective is playing, y'all should think up some new ones. I pulled a couple of new ones out of the back of my head last time.

I can list 30 songs we've played, all by myself:

Beatles:
I Saw Her Standing There
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
A Hard Day's Night
Day Tripper
Taxman
Back in the USSR
Birthday
Come together
Don't Let Me Down
Get Back
Helter Skelter
Hello, Goodbye
If I Needed Someone
Rain
Nowhere Man
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (don't anyone make me play the solo on this one this time; you guys know I don't like Clapton unless it's CREAM!)

I'd like to try:
Slow Down
Bad Boy
Dizzy Miss Lizzy
Drive My Car
Eight Days a Week
I Feel Fine

The Byrds
Eight Miles High
Mr. Tambourine Man
My Back Pages

The Cars
Just What I Needed

The Cure
In Between Days
Just Like Heaven

Pink Floyd:
Breathe
Comfortably Numb
Some others I can't think of the names to that remind me of the two I just listed; in any case, they're bound to drive Collin nuts

Plimsouls
A Million Miles Away
Zero Hour
Now

Echo and the Bunnymen
Lips Like Sugar
The Killing Moon
Rescue

The Church
Under the Milky Way

The Jam
In the City

The Kinks
David Watts

I'd like to try:
`Til the End of the Day
I Need You
All the Day and All of the Night

Georgia Satellites
Keep Your Hands to Yourself

The Smiths
Bigmouth Strikes Again

I'd like to try:
The Headmaster Ritual
What Difference Does It Make?
How soon is Now?

Buddy Holly[/youtube]
Words of Love

I'd like to try:
Crying, Waiting, Hoping

OK, I'll start with some REM suggestions:

Begin the Begin (my latest conquest) 8)

Can't get there from here (always fun)

So. Central Rain (get out the 12ers)

Crush with Eyeliner (thumpa thumpa thump)

....and some new stuff like maybe Accelerate, Man-Sized Wreath or Supernatural Superserious...

I'm off to brush up on those surf tunes. I'll need extra stiff bristles!

anyone else?

How about some Tom Petty:

Listen To Her Heart
American Girl
The Waiting
Free Fallin'

And Searchers:

Needle & Pins
Every Time You Walk In the Room
Bumble Bee

I would say Hollies too, but who the Hell is gonna sing Graham Nash's parts?

If you show up, we'll let you have first dibs. :D

I forgot about the TP&THB songs we always play. Oops. We also get to the Eagles on occasion, and Scott J. does a nice job of "Sweet Home Alabama" :D

We have yet to cover the Searchers, though we should. We haven't done any Radiohead yet either. We're going to try at least one Interpol song this time.

We play a good six and a half-seven hours worth of music, which fills up the time when one figures in the pizza break, set up, taking turns, PA adjustments, and breaking down afterwards.

No thanks, I have no desire to become a Castrata.

If we're doing a Surf set, should I bring my Showman and Reverb Unit?
