Actually, I can do it some justice, fortunately.

I would really love to custom build a P Bass with fanned frets, starting at a 33.25'' scale on the G and ending at a 34'' scale on the E. I did the math and it'd be anywhere from $500-1000 to get the job done right.

iiipopes' fanned-fret P is the only one I've played besides a Dingwall Afterburner, and I liked the feel of his a lot better because of the conservative design--it was easier to get used to without looking at the board and the strings all rang out nice and clear. The Dingwall had that going too of course.

Why a P-anything? How about something original. I'm so tired of all the Fender knock-offs. Just because Fender didn't protect their trademarks doesn't mean that it's okay to keep knocking off Leo's designs.

Why a P-anything? I happen to like "P-anythings" and they're sure easier to get ahold of than "Ric anythings". And yeah, it is perfectly okay to keep "knocking off" Leo's designs at this point.

This subject is completely OT so if you want to gripe at me about it some more feel free to PM or bug off.

Flattery/imitation is one thing knocking off another..

Dane's poignant send-off aside, I got the idea that Joshua was talking about customizing an existing P-bass, not using a "knock-off" for the project. As long as "knocking off is another thing," customizing would be yet another, one which doesn't encroach upon any moral/ethical issues I see.

Anyway, I wanted to tell Jeff that his Larrivee is gorgeous! Beautiful rosewood and that fretboard inlay is exquisite! The cutaway makes the parlor look so different from mine. I thought I had stopped thinking about the concept another Parlor but now you have me thinking! Damn you, Sock Monkey!

When I'm not playing my 4003 basses I'm playing my Yamaha RBX375. I think down the road I'd like to get a Fender Roscoe Beck V (cause Roscoe is a pal o mine) and an Alembic Stanley Clark

agree completely... if you bought it it's your to do what you want with it... that in my mind would be customizing...
