Thanks.
In the register there are 20 listed.
However, 4 of these are suspect as they are later than the known production and one is a modification.

Wow, John!
3 21's with 3 different TP positions.
Which one intonates the best?

The 21-fret Burgundy 4001 pictured in Paul's book just about made me wet myself!

This one?

Didn't one of you two guy promise to send me one of those 21 fretters?
I mean, how many does one person need, anyway?

These go to 21...
That's one extra, innit?

The 70 (middle) seems to be best.
The 69 (left) is too far back so it's a bit flat.
The other thing is the 69 has it's treble pup shifted forward. I think in this point of the "experiment", the factory wanted to keep
the pup in the same position relative to the bridge (sort of) which may explain the redesign of the pick guard.

Oh yeah!
A fully restored 1972 era 4001 in burgundy is my bucket list bass.
I don't need 21 frets, just all the other goodies.
Are those your basses? They are stunning!

Used to be.
Actually, I never got along well with both of these. They "felt" funny.
I still have the front porch though!

That's pretty good, considering.

I thought this might be a good time for small photoshoot for the old lady (KA 002) I bought from Kevin some years back. It's still the most beautiful instrument I know.

Isn't that part of your renovations plans, to lose the front porch?

Maybe the idea was for that to be in perfect intonation when using the mute, then?

So nice.
That's exactly what I'm dreaming of.
I caught a severe case of Burgundy Fever when I saw Geddy with one on the R40 tour...

Yes, to lose the front porch and my ever increasing stubborn belly-fat.
It's still the most beautiful instrument I know.
It's certainly a special one!
