You know what?

I now agree with Ben that there's no reason to make any more of these kinds of things any time soon.

Hey Graham, I reckon you should double the BIN for the one you just listed up on eBay...looks like these things are gonna be super rare!

Mark: I have to imagine that these instruments sound excellent just like all the others that have been made over the years.

Perhaps there has been an emphasis on the visual as we are visual creatures first before auditory ones in my view

While it is an empirical question, I assumed from the beginning that the Pearl Whites would not differ in tone from other models close in design.

John, these instruments have made a great splash and I am glad that this unique offering is a part of RIC history.

So on this day I say May the 4th be with you.

Are you really the kind of company that gives up following a handful of criticisms John?

Peter - I'm intrigued because it is in effect a 6 string C63...that's got to sound good hasn't it!

Personally, I would love to see a 330 produced with these specs. Yeah, I prefer the slash sound hole. Ok I will see if I can find a hole small enough to crawl into.

I've got to chime in here.

They look amazing.
They are the best sounding electric guitar that I've ever played. More acoustic than should ever be found in such a guitar and the sustain is fabulous.
The neck profile is glorious. Playing one of these is a breeze and an absolute joy.
They're not 'true vintage', so the vintage fanboys aren't happy, but who gives a ****? There's plenty of vintage Rics to be had if that's your bag.
I will be recording a video of mine on Monday night and posting it on my FB site for my friends to hear.

People cry for something new, then complain when it's not identical to a guitar made 50 years ago.

Yes - it does!! I've never had the opportunity to play a 360/12C63 so this was the first experience I've had of this body/neck. I have, however, been lucky enough to own/play several '60's Ricks which have the X braced body. Basically this 1997 reissue is the closest in a modern era Rick I've ever got to a '60's tone. I've found '60's Ricks to have a resonance than modern era Ricks lack..a bit like the difference in sound between playing a Gibson ES330 versus an ES335 and as with those guitars you find noticably more volume/resonance when the guitar's unplugged. I'm assuming as with the Gibsons, its a reflection of how hollow the bodies are. I'm also finding the neck profile on the 1997LE is super comfortable...I cant quite figure that out as looking at, it seems similar to V64 models I've owned but it just plays better. Overall these are just super instruments. :D

It's not a matter of giving up but rather not wasting our time on these diversions, when we already don't have enough hours in a day to catch up.

These kinds of things bring little, if any, actual value to the company and are done just to make a few people happy. It's simply not worth that effort if some folks . . . most notably those that aren't buyers anyway . . . wish to sour that experience.

It would be quite different if, in fact, we were testing new products to bring to the market (which these and the one-offs aren't).

Very cool. Completely understand what you're saying Eddie and would love to see a 21 fret 6 string back in the line up. I've never had the opportunity to play a C63 but the neck profile does sound good.

That's sad to hear John. I may be quite wrong, but if you introduced standard Rose Morris spec 1997/1998/1993 Fireglo reissues using the C series bodies and neck profiles I suspect you'd have a queue round the block (not least here in the UK)...I'd certainly be in that queue. I appreciate this will never be your bread and butter for the business, but even with the lower volumes I'd be very surprised if it didn't make economic sense for your business given the higher margin on lines like these.

The crown radius on a regular 330 - 25.4cm
The crown radius on these - 18.4cm.

The difference in playability is amazing.

Yes Mark the structure of these instruments is a good reason why they should sound good.
