Thanks for the link. I purchased a 1 pound can of the putty. I figured I'd try it on my saddles and it it works well, I'll be able to everyone's damaged saddled with that one pound can!!!

That aluminum putty is pretty soft stuff. I have used it in automotive applications and wasn't too impressed.

YMMV though.

I hope it is comparable to how it's advertised. If not, @ $40. + shipping for a pound, it won't be the worst investment I've ever made. I'll try it on something else first as a test.

No need, thanks any way. I ordered a pound of the stuff. I'm going to mix a small batch and test it before trying it on my saddles.

JB Weld and PC7 are other options.

I received the harness Dane rebuilt for me. it looks awesome! I can't wait to get her all hooked up! The horse shoes arrived yesterday and stayed only long enough to get re-boxed and sent out to Mark Walker. Mark is converting a 6 pole raised lip bobbin to a 4 pole. The shoes, bobbin, and hardware was sent off to Mark. He should have it early in the week.

Waiting on the new pickguard so i can mount the harness and the toaster. I'm hoping the length of wire on the toaster will be long enough to reach where I have to solder it. If not, I'll have to replace it.

Tried to place an on-line order with PotR but it says my email address is already an account. Don't remember creating an account there before so I'll have to wait until Chris is back from vacation and place it over the phone. Need all new pickguard screws and other small items. Strings should from Circle K should be here in a few days.

Sorry I didn't catch this comment earlier to reply in a timely manner. The 1&½" wide shoes provide a hell of a snarl. There must be something about the extra quarter inch of metal that contributes to the brightness of the sound. Here are good samples of what that bass sounds like:

I now get a pretty similar sound out of my 4001 v63, courtesy of installing a similar pup recently bought from Tony Matura, which I understand you put together.

Yeah, glad it worked out for you!

Just one more comment on the horseshoe sidebar - the pickup in Tony M's '62 4000 is by far the most kick-butt horseshoe I've ever heard, so if yours is performing at that level, then all the more power to you! I modeled the pickup you have on that one, so hopefully it came close to the mark.

And now, back to Joe's '65, currently in progress.

I always thought the early bass horsies had a lot more presence than the mid 60s ones.
Better magnets perhaps….
