We are not talking about a religious order, a charitable organization or our families. Products made by the best-intentioned firms can vary now and then. In fact, if I was an owner at Rickenbacker I'd APPRECIATE being tipped off if one of the robots or humans was sending out a defective product.

If I was an exec at Rickenbacker, I'd send the OP a thank you note.

But I am not. I'm only someone who had bought, enjoyed and used two Blackstars, two 360-12s, a 1968 4005 (my first Rick), a Tuxedo, a 3000, a 4003cs, a v63 Alembrick and my current 4001. I may have forgotten one.

It is okay to pass judgment and it is okay to be upset with something, it is also okay to say whatever you want. It is not okay to call a company or a part of this company "A joke". That was the only thing that I didn't like in George's remarks, the rest is just fine and an important piece of information to us all.

It is definitely not okay to say what the next person had to say (I removed the inflammatory part but I guess you already read it) :

JH is meant to be standing down after NAMM next year. I cannot say I will be upset to see him go. <REMOVED BY MODERATOR>
Those who know me know that I am almost never interfering with the forum, I don't like taking sides, I hate forum politics, I think freedom of speech should be cherished and if you'll ask Peter or Brian I was always in favor of keeping deleted posts.
This has gone too far.
JH is a great guy, helped many people (including me) when he didn't have to and I consider him a friend. Such posts, attacking him or anyone else for that matter on a personal level will not be tolerated.

Regrettably I am locking this thread (iirc this is the first time I lock a thread, I feel really bad about it, doing so literally ruined my morning). It is going towards places that we don't want to go to.
It is okay to note a problem with Rickenbacker's product or even with their customer service if you deem it true, but this has gone from a reasonable post to a personal attack at people. We are here for the guitars, not for fights.
Feel free to criticize a product or a process, not people. If anyone wishes to point out issues that they find in the guitar please do and feel free to do so.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Gil your comments are appreciated. It is, of course, fair to make comments about issues in which the Rickenbacker standard of quality does not seem to be met. It is unfair, however, to take things to the personal level. For those of us who know the history of the RRF it is well known that John Hall made fostered much goodwill and supported this Forum. How many guitar company CEOs have taken the time to answer questions personally and help others out in the process.

John hall will be missed when he steps down as he is currently missed here . I suspect her would still be here if it were not for the harsh manner in which he is treated.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
