Thanks for your insight. Sometimes we want, want, want, (or dream, dream, dream...) and forget how much work it takes to make things happen. I'm glad to see your letter posted, and would be in line to purchase a '68 reissue should it come to pass.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Hall....it's great to see you post a comment here and there. It's also nice just to know that you are checking what is posted here whether you respond of not.
BTW....thanks for the "color of the year" on the RIC site.....all of us are chomping at the bit to see what it will be.....

Most likely of what you wrote and another reason why you'll never see a 4001V63.

This is the most thoughtful and informative reply that you have posted for some time and worthy of breaking this rule of yours. As the person who first proposed a specific V68 model by name and design in a post I started last summer, I thank you for your consideration. There was much discussion then about this topic and it did seem like a viable, marketable opportunity for Rickenbacker. I believe you even weighed in on the build logistics and the availability of the correct inlay material.
I don't know if I can claim first proposing the Custom Shop idea but I did post as to the logic behind keeping pace with your direct competitors to meet market demand. If there are just supply chain logistics to work out, I encourage you to pursue this profitable trend in consumer buying. Good luck to you and your company in 2005 and beyond.

If I remember correctly the v68 idea also had its orgins from people seeing me post pics of the old '68 I used to own ...

there was a discussion of the reissue basses and the dot neck vs triangle inlays and no binding vs checkered binding ...
for me the classic '60s bass will always be one with inlays and checkered binding and the finger rest and mono output ...

if ric. had its own custom shop can you imagine the volume of orders they would recieve nowadays .if it was its own shop how could it hinder production.wish list 68 with inlays checkerboard ,finger rest,high gain with toaster in montazuma brown.

For not being Fireglo, that Seagreen is quite nice, a nice "St Andrews" translucent blue would also be nice, but who am I trying to kid !!
