I like that all black one Sérgio, when did you get that one? I don't think I've ever seen it before.
If I remember right Rick James had an album cover with an Azureglo 4001 on it.

Bob:
I bought the all black 4001 (April 1974) in late 2003 from former Forum member Gregg Silagyi (sadly he's been in poor health for quite some time now).
Ted:
Having removed the mono jack socket on the 4080 some years ago, I decided to also remove the (redundant) fifth knob and substitute a 'mono/stereo' mini switch therefor.
Jim/Chris:
As for the 21 fret 4001 I have my sights on, the owner (seemingly a very busy guy) could not receive me last friday, and thus he set a new date for me to go and check the bass - this coming thursday. I'm going slightly mad...

Hey, Chris, some guys have all the luck!
A double bound, Fireglo 4005 happens to be one of my unfulfilled Rickenbacker dreams! I have not given up hope of finding a 4005 locally, though.

Decided to go back to stock pickups on my '97 4003. Picture taken just before removing reissue Vintage pickups, which have since been sold.
Neck pocket detail. Note the nice routing for wiring on these newer instruments.
Build date info, which is much more cleanly done than in times past.
Backside of V63 reissue horseshoe pickup, with plastic base.
V63 Horseshoe Pickup, currently going for about 4 Bills on ebay...
I'm now back to stock, with what I perceive as better balance and deeper, cleaner bass.

Greg, it's ironic really, if I had a 4003 I'd do exactly what you've just undone...just goes to show that everybody's different! Glad it worked out for you!
