What is considered the appropriate abbreviation for Rickenbacker? Ric or Rick? Or both?

Either--just not "Rik".

When talking about the business, I think RIC is proper. When talking about basses I use "Rick".

"Rihk" is fashionable in some circles.."Rickh" is no longer acceptable..."Wrick" is way out...I personally like to show some flair, and often use "Rhwrick"...it takes a lot of gumption and a fake British accent to pull this one off, but if you can manage it, you will be the hit of the party.

RIC = Rickenbacker International Corporation

All things considered, I think that RIC(ric) takes it.

My favorite is: Ricky, or is it Ricki, or is that a Lake?

FWIW I prefer RIC (corporate) and Ric (instrument). They are sometimes called 'Rickies' over here but I'm not a fan of that.

What Scott said:
"When talking about the business, I think RIC is proper. When talking about basses I use "Rick"."

Scott has it right, at least it agrees with the official position. Personally, I absolutely detest Ricky and Rickie is even worse.
