Nut problem with .010's

Hi all!
Just got a beautiful 360/12 Montezuma Brown, but I'm having a bit of a problem with the nut.

I replaced the original strings with Dr Ducks .010's, but the three upper strings (E A D) won't fit inside the nut.

Anyone had the same problem?
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
ricardo

Ricardo: Always the dilemma, do you file out the nut or purchase smaller gauge E A and D strings. If you are sure that you will be going to use the Dr. Duck gauges then you should file the slots wider. I would opt for smaller gauge E A and D srings first. I don't know the Dr. Ducks. Are they larger than 46, 36, 26?

Dr Ducks string gauges are:
.010 - .013 - .024 - .032 - .042 - .046
.010 - .013 - .010 - .0115 - .017 - .026

Anyway, i think i'll try a set of rickenbackers 10-42's first.

I prefer 10's on 6 string guitars, but on this 12 string, it feels a bit heavy.

Thanks,
ricardo

Ricardo: Those gauges are not too bad at all. Why not try .010, .013, .020, .026, .032, .042 for the main strings.
