I'm watching MPT(Maryland Public TV) and Rickenbackers are FLYIN' everywhere....
Old footage of The Who, let's see...there's a 330? or is it an old style 360?...., Eric Burden and the Animals(live)...their bass player is playing a 4001/3 , I think it's JG....and he's really wankin' it...very cool.

Was that a chrome pickguard and white binding on the Animals 4003? It looked really sweet!

I THINK it also had a mirror TRC, tho' I could be wrong on that. Saw it after a gig and several Shiners.

I caught the tail-end of that show last night. Had I known it was on, I would have taped it.
Rics and the "'60s Experience" ... absolutely, intrinsicly linked then, now, and forever!

Chris, am I to assume that the description you used of the animals' bass player's style carries a different meaning in the US than in the UK??
I hope so!
(Their guitarist - Hilton Valentine - used 1998s a lot too didn't he?)

...I was in a Circuit City today and had a Rick sighting. On the Audiovox Jam Pack radio kit and accessory boxes for Sirius radio, there's a Jetglo 4001, looks like a '73...checkered binding, toaster neck pickup, but new style fingerboard inlays. It looked just like mine except it had the adjustable screw pole pieces in the bridge pickup.
...almost makes me want to switch from XM to Sirius! LOL
...my wife just laughed at this post and asked if this is like Elvis sightings.

Joey: It is nice that your wife takes this in good humour. That way, she won't mind when a new Rickenbacker bass comes through your door.
Hey look, "a vintage Model 4005 has just entered the building."
