Guitarist Rod Price of Foghat Dies at 57
Thought this might interest some:
WILTON, New Hampshire (AP) - Guitarist Rod Price, founding member of the blues boogie band Foghat, died Tuesday after falling down a stairway at his home, a family friend said. He was 57.
The London native's solos drove Foghat to three platinum and eight gold records during the band's quarter-century career. After many years of touring he settled in Wilton in 1994.
Many in town knew Price as a loving father who never missed his son's baseball, soccer or basketball games. Fewer people knew of Price's musical background.
Price had played with Champion Jack Dupree, Eddie Kirkland, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon and Honey Boy Edwards.
In recent years, Price concentrated on his blues projects, cutting several CDs and giving private guitar lessons at his home.

No, they should probably just gracefully retire the name.
I caught a VH1 Classic In Concert episode recently of Foghat from 1999 - the year before Lonesome Dave died. Rod Price had left the band many years before. It was a great show - but I couldn't stop thinking of Spinal Tap while watching it
Lots of good stuff at www.foghat.net - good memories. Now I have to go and dig out all my old Savoy Brown albums....

I saw them open for the Edgar Winter Group in 1974, and although I couldn't say they blew EWG off the stage, they played really well, and blew me away. I know that Lonesome Dave was with the band then, but wasn't Rod Price also? I had bought a album of theirs called "Fool for the City" that I liked, but I really wasn't too familiar with the members of the band. It was a great show, no matter who was playing...

So sad when anyone passes at such a young age. It is more sad when someone has such an impact on lives directly and indirectly.

That's the first one I heard too, Bob... I actually think I bought Fool for the City because I thought that song was on it... It was actually on an album that was white, with a picture of a rock on one side and a dinner roll on the other... Pretty cool cover.
