This one may be the same one that a woman was going to sell about 5 years ago. She was in CO. too.

Anthony had a Rick, dunno if it was a '57 or not. You can see it briefly in the video for "Panama".

Yeah, that $3.85 shipping charge make you feel pretty confident huh?

Michael Anthony used to play Rics and has one of the first 4000's made. I've seen him with different ones back in the early days of Van Halen.

I've got some serious interest in this one if it's for real.

"selling for a friend..."

Don't like that!

I don't know how much he really knows about guitars. If you look at his feedback, he's mostly into sports items. I think I saw one music related item.

The $3.85 shipping probably was meant to be a joke. Later he states the buyer will determine shipping. I also asked for pics, and no reply, but it is a holiday, and he may be busy.
We shall see. Image

The seller has a high feedback number, so I doubt that it's a fly-by-night scam. The shipping is obviously a typo - but then again, at a minimum bid of $5500, I think $3.85 for shipping is just fine!

If I were to auction off such a high profile piece such as this, I would leave nothing to chance. Absolutely no typo's.

I would want to be taken very seriously.

Michael Anthony bought the 1957 4000 from Scott Jennings(Route 66 Guitars) back in the 80's. It is illustrated in the Tony Bacon book on basses and it's quite impressive. Apparentely the seller seems to think EVERYONE knows this. He's not very smart, along with the typo on the shipping and no photos t'boot! If it's real; if there's pictures; if he admits to some mistakes, and it all pans out, I will be a very serious bidder. Until then --- be careful of a careless seller like this! He's selling this for a friend?? Some friend!
