What is the deal with these sellers? I've noticed a rash of vintage RICs with their bridges on backwards :-)

John, do you think that Gruhn caught this one when he "set it up", post-photos?

Actually, guys, the seller did mention in the ad copy that the photos were taken BEFORE Gruhn set it up, so that's why I was speculatin'.

Sam Calveard runs Gruhn's repair shop, and he's darned good. Mike, perhaps you could share your observations with me, off-list?

Some of the rarest and best instruments I have ever purchased were on Gruhn Guitars list. In every case they did not know what they had. This includes Rickenbackers.

George is not usually on the floor, and is not the person responsible for the dating, grading, etc. of the vast majority of instruments in inventory.

While George is indeed 'the man' for vintage acoustic instruments, he is definitely not a Rickenbacker expert, and I doubt that he would tell you he is. This is reflected in what most of the people on the fshowroom loor know about them as well.

George is also an expert herptologist. If you want to know anything at all about snakes, he's your man!

Now that I think about it, some of that knowledge might be useful in the music business.

Not exactly true: there are none in Ireland. Or Antarctica. Or ...

Gary, you're wrong. I know more than a few snakes in Ireland. But I don't know any in Antarctica, that's true.

Oh, you guys are talking about the real ones. I was only making reference to the upright kind. LOL.

Added note...St. Patrick got rid of the snakes without the FTC. And who or what would want to exist in Antartica?

Stan, the penguins make a habit of it.
