Well I've finally had it with SVT's

I threw out my back last night and have been thinking that some of the GK amps I've used lately have sounded pretty good and were definitely a lot lighter. I have three SVT set ups for sale: two square back cabs and one with the towel rack, two late 70's heads and one skunkworks limited ed. head for sale, all are in excellent working condition and very good cosmetically also. The cabs are a little rough looking, no tolex/black paint but have all original speakers, wheels and sound killer as do the heads, they are just getting too heavy for a geezer like me. E-mail me if interested.

I got rid of my SVTs when I was 19. To this day I still have major back problems from an injury I got carting those damn things around.

Peavey, Bob. Go Peavey. And no preamp tubes allowed, either.
Oh wait, it's already April 2nd.

Bob, I'd keep one around if I were you, because you'll just miss it and want to get another one eventually! You should get some help carrying those! I ALWAYS get help with mine and never have a problem with my back and I'm not all that tall or well muscled.
I have a Sunn 200S and 2000S and a 1x15 with a JBL E140 in it for smaller gigs. Still, when I'm playing those, I miss the SVT's sound. I wish I had one of your 70's era SVT's but have no money to get one, so my MTI will have to work.

Towel rack: cabinets with a slanted portion on the upper part of the cabinet back are fitted with a grab bar that looks like a towel rack. Makes it easier to move.
Skunkworks: Bob will want to correct me if I'm wrong, but it was a limited reissue run made from the original schematics, made by the "skunkworks team" at St. Louis Music shortly after SLM bought Ampeg (circa 1986-87, I think).
And I hope you realize this was Bob's April Fool joke.

And I can't imagine moving one of those beasts, towel rack or note. When I saw the V9 Cab, I couldn't believe it.

April fools! haha! I got more of you here. I won't give up my SVT's until they pry my cold, dead, strained, sprained, pulled, out of joint body out from under one of them. (I'm not a member of the NRA BTW)
Dave, you seem to know an awful lot about SVT's for a Mesa player. 1987, #413 of the limited run of 500.
Go (away) Peavey!
If I ever get my scanner running again I have a good picture of one of my SVT's.

Sorry Bob. Absolutely no one is going to buy that April Fool's story. 3900 posts, a likely story.

You mean I "wasted" one of my limited edition run of 500 posts on an April Fools joke?!
Good joke Bob...I even bit!
I'm almost as rabid as you in support of my SVT. I like my Sunns too and will use other things, but I always find I compare them all to my SVT, and so far everything else has come up short. I'll have to get you a pic of the custom SVT type cabinet I had made one of these days...

I'm the same way Greg, I've owned many amps over the years, some were really nice and I regret letting them go but, nothing sounds like the SVT's. I was serious about GK's though, I've used them here and there and they do sound nice for a SS amp, not sterile like most of them. But....
POST 3901, haha!
