Just examining the won bid (completed listings)prices at eBay... since 1st of April nearly no 4001/3 below ONE GRAND!!! Even the abused Ladies!? That might be another effect of the new price list of Rick Co. or some drastic inflation over there in the States? Just curoius about...

Six days is hardly statistically significant.

However, the fact that the 4003 Series has been number one in dealer sales for the over $700 bass category since last year (according to the Music and Sound Retailer) suggests that the demand for this type of bass is very strong at a time when we can't produce enough to fill orders quickly.

Supply and demand, over a period of months, more likely may now be pushing the used market.

When Frankenstien old 4001's get absurd prices, and it seems that slightly used 4003's can fetch more than you could buy one used for...something is driving the market.

But it's odd, as I've seen several 4004's on eBay sell for less than even suspect 4001/3's that were heavily modified/damaged and potentially frauds.

But recently a newish 4004 L sold with BIN on the 'Bay, for well over $100 than I paid for a truly new one from POTR's...the seller said it took over a year for his order come through. So maybe the 4004's just lagged the better known models a little bit.

So I agree with John that this is a result of supply and demand for new Ricks...the price increases from the factory will only inflate this part of the used gear market more.

Yes, congratulations. But I'm really not surprised.

Congrats of course but I am surprised. Nothing to do with the quality or anything since obviously I am a big fan but I rarely see any being used....except for the few big names. Maybe I am just missing something but all I see is Fender/Fender style boutique knockoffs.
