Andy ,i had a question for you,i put my 99 v63 next to my 67 4001s to check out differences i found quite a few one of them being the headstock angle ,the 99 headstock angles backward where as the 67 has no angle at all totally straight ,how is your 85 v63? thanks ken

My 72 4001FL has virtually no angle either, I think all the small head Rics are the same.

I think all the early 4001 Ric basses had almost straight headstocks. If I don't wind enough string on the post to bring it down at an angle mine rattles in the nut on the A and D.

...my '73 has a slight angle.
