Coming some time in May. Those of you that know them . . . 'nuff said. Those that don't - it's a power punk trio with two guitarist and a drummer, all female. Carrie Brownstein has played 330s on several of their albums. Great band.

Have you heard it yet? My friend writes record reviews and got an advance copy. The Woods is really different - sounds almost like the Stooges. If you like Sleater-Kinney, you will LOVE their new one.

No - I found out because I was flipping through CD's at a chain bookstore. They had one of those massive album databases on which you can listen to snippets of any album by a major publisher. I typed in S/K on a lark and they had the album info (but not tracks stored yet)

S/K and the Shins are perhaps my two favorite currently active bands. I hope they tour here soon.

I picked up this album last week. It is *very* different from other SK albums - much less "poppy," more brooding. The production is vey deliberately lo-fi. I confess it took me a while to get into, but now I love it!

I don;t hear a lot of Rick in it, unfortunately (more like SG through a fuzzbox) but hopefully Carrie will play her 330 when thy come to town in a few weeks!

I toured a bunch with S/K in 2002, and Carrie never used the Ric, only the SG. "Too jangly," she said. Shame, cause I bet it sounded great cranked through her AC30. On the few occasions it was working, of course.

I just downloaded the video for the new single.

Guess what? Carrie uses a 425! Cool. Who knows what it was in the studio.

It's a big file and it requires quicktime to play.

Jay, thanks for the tip.

And, yes, I had totally envisioned Carrie as being a lot taller than she is ;)
