I just got my new 4003/s5 in Mapleglo. It really is a beautiful guitar. I was wondering whether or not to remove the "Made in the USA" sticker from the pickguard. I think it would probably look better without it, but I want to keep the bass as close to "factory " as possible. Any suggestions?

Petew4001: Unless you plan on selling this guitar as essentially a new instrument, I can see no reason why you would want to leave the USA sticker on it.

Thanks Peter, I don't plan on ever selling this bass, I will remove the sticker. I'm just hoping that in a few years a guitar with a sticker would be worth more than one without it.

To remove the crud/gum that is left behind try ;either denatured alcohol or NAPTHA (aka VM&P thinner)
Either will work and won't take but a second. Also they won't hurt the guitar

Thanks both Peter & Mark. After reading so many posts about keeping Rickenbackers original on your web-site, I'm begining to get a little gun shy about doing anything that might affect the value of my bass. I hope the question wasn't too elementary . Keep up the good work.

hey!!!!
that aint too patriotic taking that sticker off...
I would take it off... take some lighter fluid and burn that sucker.....just kidding, take a little litter fluid and get the gummy stuff off, after you peel it off, try not to get it on the finish or it with take the polish off and dull....
you should keep the sticker in your wallet, please dont lose it...I got pulled over by the cops once and it got me out of a ticket...

fatrat, I'm sitting here holding a cat & thinking about taking the sticker off my guitar. Glad I don't have to dig around in her catbox to find "litter fluid" ;)
