I am intending to take my 345F to get it checked out.I have not played it in awhile.I just want to give it a check up.Does anybody know of an honest and reliable(maybe bonded)luthier that I can trust with it.Would you normally have to leave it with them over a few days?I'm a little reluctant about it leaving my possession. What is a normal charge for a service like this? Thanks in advance for you suggestions.

Hello, Pat. I take all of my guitars to Fred at THE REPAIR ZONE in Clairemont Mesa. Fred has been servicing all of my guitars for about fifteen years. He is the best of the best and he takes care of all of my Rickenbacker guitars. This guy is amazing to no end whether it is an electric guitar or an acoustic, and he even builds his own line of guitars that are very successful.
Fred at THE REPAIR ZONE can be reached at: (858) 565-7984, and tell Fred that Joey sent you.

Can anyone recommend a reputable luthier in LA? (I live in the South Bay)

Another vote for the Repair Zone. Fred's the best. Many people from LA drive down here for his service.
Don Butler is in Orange County, but he's usually busy.

Hey Joey, Aren't you the same Joey Garcia that posted a 360-12cw review on Harmony Central a few years ago?

Dan, I take all my RICs (actually all my guitars and basses) to Truetone Music in Santa Monica. Talk to Russ or Paul, they're totally on the level, cool-headed, VERY GOOD repair guys. I've been through quite a number of guitar tech's and these guys are far and away the best. Whereabouts are you in the South Bay? I'm in Redondo Beach

Pat: I think Fred will charge around $30+ for a string change and an adjustment on the Ric as it has two truss rods. Go for the string change if you have not done one in a while as it will keep your neck at the right tension.
Tom: Yes, that was me. I sold that Carl Wilson by the way. No regrets as I will get one back one day. Some guitars go for others, you know how that is.

Another vote for Fred at the Repair Zone. I really wouldn't trust my guitars to anyone else.

Anyone know what's with Soest Guitars? I tried Steve's website and got the old 404 message. I took my 331 to him for the nut replacement and heat-treating the neck to get rid of a reverse bow from not being strung for years, and he does great work here in Orange County.

By the way, count me in for any confluence in San Diego, Orange, or Los Angeles Counties.
