Value of 4001v63 ?

How much is a fair price for a Fireglo 4001v63, all original with silver case? Everything is in great shape. I may have to sell mine due to some financial reasons. It´s quite a bit of money tied up for a poor student...
BTW I live in Sweden and prices in Europe are generally quite a bit higher. How much should I ask for it if I need to sell? Still hoping for that lottery ticket.

In the US a mint V63 should fetch $1600-1800 USD.
Sweden? No idea!

Around £1800 for a "new old stock" here in the UK. (Yes, nearly twice the USA price!)

the price for a new 4003 is around € 1600 here in italy at the moment
the V63 used to be more expensive as new

I'll be in Sweden for a week at the end of June just outside Stockholm. If you haven't sold the bass by then, I might just be persuaded to make a purchase that I can't possibly afford or need !

Well, I just sold it. I got $1750. A little low for a mint all original bass with a litteraly unused vintage case. But I really needed the money.
I will own a v63 again some day when my studies are over and I get a good job...

I think they're so overrated as a bass, personally. Their prices don't justify them.

You can get a new C64 for just slightly more than a used V63 these days. A lot of these basses seem to hold their value quite well. I paid $1500 for my '89 V63 and it needed a lot of work to get it back in good shape. I couldn't get that price for it now however. I'd never sell it anyway, I've got too much invested in it. It is an excellent bass though. I play it quite a lot. To get off the subject a little though, the vintage basses are all greatly overpriced IMHO. But it is not what they are really worth, it is what the buyer is willing to pay for them. If nobody pays that kind of price, they will either lower the price, or simply not sell them.

I had a couple I bought brand new, I thought they were nice, good sounding basses, especially one of them which I regret selling, but I can't play with the horseshoe in the way, I pluck right near/over the bridge pickup usually. Used prices are all relative, law of supply and demand dictates the prices.

The market dictates what the prices are,that's true, and V63's are highly sought after basses. Especially the ones in fireglo, because most like mine, were mapleglo. And if mine is any indication, they are built like tanks. Even after all the work mine had done on it,it still rocks like it was new. I'm quite proud of it.
