This is 'Off Topic', but who wants to mention some hit records that never should've been and that they absolutely hate?
My two are JUDY IN DISGUISE and THE MORE I SEE YOU. The first is by John Fred and his Playboy band. Even the band name sucks. Instant migraine. Nothing redeemable in this.
The second, THE MORE I SEE YOU by Chris Montez is smarmy, 'Hey, we're at a happy hour bar, sitting around the piano and singing off-key' schlock. Sounds like it was aimed more at alcoholic parents who wanted to think they were hip. A low point for Montez who actually had some listenable things like LET'S DANCE.

"The More I See You" is from an old Betty Grable-Dick Haymes vehicle "The Diamond Horseshoe", from the 1940s, and really needs to be put into the perspective of the time. As a song of the '40s, it's really pretty advanced, being really closer in structure to something by Bacharach/David, 20 years later.

Chris' off key, vibratoless way of singing it does it no favors, though.

I agree on JID. But how about "Jack the Rapper" from 1968 or so?

A much better song called 'Let's Dance' was that by Chris Rea. Some of his stuff is great!

My vote? 'Yummy, Yummy, Yummy....' (1910 Fruit Gum Company). Closely followed by 'Sylvia's Mother' (Dr. Hook) and everything The Archies ever did!!

I'm not too much of a Chirs Rea fan, but his "La Passione" (1996) is a must for any music/car fan. It's the story of a young boy who...

well, anyway, it's got some great torch stuff by Shirley Bassey. No, Kenny, I'm not calling you Shirley. Some Ferrari ballads, too.

I looked all over the US for it, and couldn't find it. Then London, in '99. No luck. Found it in a clip bin in Rio De Janeiro in '01, for $1.00. Now Amazon has it for $19.00 used.

Highly recommended.

Coincidently John Fred died about two days ago, he's going to haunt you now. I like it.
Chris Montez did a great version of 'Let's Dance" also.

My vote for worst although it doesn't bother me now like it did when it was new is Gilbert O'Sullivan's, 'Alone again Naturally'

I liked 'The Rapper' 1970 by The Jaggerz, if that's the one you mean, great fuzzed out bass, Their singer (forgot his name) went on to have several hits under his own name. Donny Iris I think.

Bob, that's the one. Good bass line and sound on an awful irritating song. It's hard to believe that Montez was the same person between LUD and TMISY.

Gilbert O' Sullivan? Barf. Or, chunder.

Would "The Others" do?

Actaully, Steve, I liked both of those songs. Especially the bass line before the first verse. Never could figure out how to get back to the first verse after playing that high break prior. Made it easier to listen to the song. I met Chris Montez at a party about 15 years ago. Nice guy, very accesible, and I never had the %$&* to ask him what it was like a have The Beatles as a band on his tour of the UK with himself as the headliner! Or, for that matter, some stories, anecdotes about them that he could remember.

"Time Passages" by Al Stewart....bar none, the worst song I've ever heard. I was listening to a greatest hits of the 70's and this came on. Sounds very effeminate. Oye, there were some bad songs in the '70's.
On another subject, as much as I hate to admit it, disco has some really good bass lines from the '70's. I can't believe I just said that.

The problem with disco wasn't the groove, it was the string sections.
