the real answer is this ;

Passive single coils only need a 250K pot

Passive humbuckings with a stack configuration under 6K need a 250K pot

Passive humbuckings with a 12K or less reading need a 500K pot

HOT humbuckings (Dimarzio Super Distortion,Duncan Distortion,Duncan Invader ) require a 1 meg pot .

There are some areas where you can interchange ,but these are great guidelines .
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
