Hey guys! I'm thinking about acquiring a 650 Sierra. I believe that it's the most beautiful model Ric came out with. But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be very popular...I've never seen one around! So is there anybody in the forum that can tell me about the guitar ( playability, sound, feeling, ect.) that would convince me to order that darn thing of my dreams!!!

It is sort of the LesPaul of Rickenbacker .
With a twist of cosmic 1970's oil finish (ala,Alembic,Hyak,Oasis,Moonstone, etc) throw in for good measure.
I have also never seen or played one of these.I would love to .
Perhaps a campaign of promoting this into the hands of a younger band would get them seen and then it would develope into the frenzy that happened with other guitar models .I have no idea (other than the ads in guitar magazines) , what kind of A&R is done at Rick .Perhaps that is a reason, as this guitar on spec, sounds rather nice to me .

Dan: If you scroll down the list of topics under the Rickenbacker Guitars Topic you will find several that address your question in some detail.

Thanks Guys, still, I'm open to inputs from people that have actually played the Sierra!!;) Maybe it would be easier to compare it with a 330 (since I'm playing on one!)

Dan: If you do a search for the Sierra you will find comments from those who have played the instrument. Robert Brun, posted in this Forum had the following to say. Quote:I too am a lefty and I have a 650 Sierra. Since buying it a month ago my Strat and Paul stay in thier cases. This guitar is awesome!!! It is terrific at lead and ryhthm. The Humbuckers give it a wide range of sound. On the treble pup I'm able to get a good "Ric" tone. Switch it to both pups or bridge pup and I get a great deep bluesy lead tone. This is the most versitile Ric I have owned . I have had a 330 and a 360 in the past.

Dan,
I'll just add that the 650 series seems like the type of Ric you'd buy if you were more a lead player than a rhythm player. At least that's been my experience.
Boss guitar all the same.
