What is the better color?

I know I might start a debate but I need a little help. I'm going to get a 4003 but I'm not sure what color yet. I wanted a Jetglo but Midnight Blue has caught my eye. I think the "Blue Beast" did it for me. Image

I've had natural, purple, red, and black (Jetglo)basses. I'm just wondering if I should go with a new color or stay with black? I do know for sure that when I do get the 4003 you guys will see pics immediatly.

Any pics side by side would help.

Jim Glen would insist on Fireglo, but you should get a custom Paisley paint job done as that would be truly unique in the RIC world! Image

Maybe Blueburst, but in the end I like Jetglo the best for 4000 series basses.

Nate...

Hard to beat jetglo and fireglo for a 4000 series bass.....HOWEVER, midnite blue is really gaining ground in my book.

I have a blueburst 4004cii on order.....that particular color looks best on an unbound instrument...imho, of course...

Fireglo, Jetglo, Burgundy...in no particular order. I don't like BLueboy too much, but the Emporer recently had a blueboy 4003 up for auction that was nice looking. Maybe it's the binding?

I have a Midnight Blue and bought it because of limited selection at the time. The color has really grown on me and looks much better in person than pics can show. You can't go wrong with any color but the blue is a nice change from the "standard" Ric colors (FireGlo, JetGlo and MapleGlo).

I can't speak for the seller but looks to be in great condition and good price ($800 shipped).

Nate, you certainly can’t go wrong with the classic Jetglo! I recently sold a 97 4003 JG and of course now wish I hadn’t. Both still have a special JG hanging around so that eases the pain!

For me though, I have a tendency to keep my basses natural or at the least have translucent colors on them to show off the beautiful wood that RIC uses.

So my recommendation would be FG, BBR or MG! Maybe you should also consider a 4004Cii – these colours particularly look great on that bass!

It’s a nice but difficult decision to have to make!

Cheers!

Tough choice, I personally prefer Jetglo, the Jetglo gets a lot of attention at gigs, but Da Blue Beast gets even more. I guess the color is different from most guitars you would see at a gig and a Rick 5 string is very rare at a gig. Many people say to me that they never even knew RIC made a 5 string bass.
The Blue Beast gets played on most songs since they need a 5 string.

I can't wait for my BBR! Image Even though I like all of the colors, I am partial to blue. Have owned 2 AzureGlos and loved them both, but I think the BBR is going to blow them both away.

Like Andy, I personally don't care much for solid colors, although JG looks very nice with checkered binding. The Blue Beast looks very nice too with the black hardware. I never seen a midnight blue in person however.
Monty Browns, MapleGlow, and FireGlow are sweet.
Remember this Jeff?
