Noticed that earlier on the bay, wonder if it has a copy TRC, god knows what the poor soul who buys it will end up with. Thats just degrading using a real '64 4001s for the picture.

Hm... The Aria rendition of the 4001 bass is one of the least accurate, which probably explains the seller posting a photo of a real Rickenbacker bass...

This guy has some nerve. It really pisses me off. That's the '64 from P.164-5 in the Bacon/Day book.

What Bacon & Day book are you refering to?

That would be "The Rickenbacker Book" by Tony Bacon and Paul Day, originally published in 1994. It's been out of print for a while, but Amazon can lead you to used copies, as can eBay.

I have that book, but the only bass in it is a 4080/12, plus it only has 96 pages in it. Where is pages 164-5 and that picture from?

If your really mean that book, ISBN 1871547695, it's is widely available, such as here.

"The Bass Book", ISBN 1871547849, seems to be available here here.

They are still around, Jeff.

I got both the Rickenbacker and Gretsch ones (new) off eBay in the UK for 5 squid 'buy it now' (plus 11 more for postage). $39 AUD for both - bargain!!
