The answer is usually this ....
The mono/Standard jack has two lugs that when NOT plugged in ...they must NOT touch.
When you are plugged into the mono/Standard jack ...they MUST touch .
If they do touch and you still only have one pickup , then the contacts are dirty and they need to be cleaned.
This can be done with fine -wet/dry sandpaper , by simply pulling the sand paper through the switch when the contacts are closed.
Why do I only get one pickup now on my Rick-O-Sound equiped

So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
Photos to assist in above description.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

This is 99% of ALL rick sound failure. This tab that has the dimple on it and the one with the white nylon piece are THE issue here.Very rarely do the wires fail , they just don't move and are protected by the shrink tubing.
This is for EVERY guitar and Bass that has
"Rick-O-Sound".
With instruments that have the dual mono jacks you should not have any kind of trouble at all .
For those of you who do not have eyes that can see what is going on in the lower photo ....the 1/4" 'Switchcraft' male jack is inserted into the switching mono jack and the two lugs/fins are now connected. That is how they need to be , but only when the jack is inserted.
Thank you Peter for posting those photos for me , one day I too will figure that out , in the meantime I will give info instead.
