My wife and I are moving in a month and as I was going through the basement junk I stumbled across a 4001 copy bass that I had totally forgotten about. It came from a flea market. I was going to tinker around with it but I lost interest. What I'm asking is how do I get rid of it for some cash. We are scraping every bit of money together that we can find and this would help. I imagine that it's only worth somewhere between $50-$100 tops. Its in bad shape and the electronics are hanging out of it. Any suggestions are helpful.

Thanks, but isn't selling Ric copies illegal or at least illiegal as far as Ebay is concerned?

list it as what it is ...
for instance say "Univox bass not Rickenbacker"
or "Lawsuit Bass"

Allan, is there a brand name on it? is it neck thru?Ibanez and Univox copies have gone for a few hundred. I sold a Univox myself for $550, and have seen dealers ask $700-800.
Rickenbacker will come after you if you try to move it on Ebay or online boards like these no matter how you advertise it. The look is an infringement period. Best bet is to sell it privately through local papers and such.
