Presently, I own a 330/12 VP mg and a 1997 fg. I feel that gives me a pretty good coverage of the Rick sounds. My wife says that should be enough, but she doesn't play or share my passion for these guitars, so I have disqualified her testimony. Now I'd like to hear from my Rick pals about owning just these two models and which others, if any, you recommend!!

I've just got a 360/6 VP right now, but will get a 300 series 12 next. The next move I'd suggest to you (as it would be the same one I will make once I've got the 12 string) is to get a 600 series instrument. Perhaps something from the 650 series for a different 6 string sound, or if you like 12 string arrangments, try out a 620 or a 660, maybe.

It's a lot of fun to figure out what your next "Ric move" will be.

I own one RIC now, a 660/6. I guess I'll be needing a 12. I'm thinking 330 series for that, maybe with the vintage pickup option... though the 660/12, with the wider fretboard sure is tempting. What do you guys recommend?

The VP option is one I think you'd enjoy - especially on a 12 string. Try and find a 300 series 12 to play at a guitar shop to see if the thinner neck will be a major playing issue for you. Or if you can't find one, try out a mandolin - if your reaction is "how the hell can anyone play these things?", I'd go with that 660/12 as the safest of bets.

I own the '67 370 O.S. pictured on this site under '60's rarities. Its a beautiful guitar that sounds amazing, but for some reason my friends '67 330 is easier for me to play. I recently got a '62 Hofner Club that produces very satisfying "Beatle-esque" sounds - sort of like a J-160E

the 360/12v64 is a great sounding ric, i have 4
rics, 360/6, 381jk, 660/12tp & 360/12v64.
neck width on 360 is not a problem if set up properly.i purchased my 360/12 on ebay, guitar
perfect as stated except i could not play it.
set up was terrible. i sent it to mark arnquist
& he set it up the way it should have been from the factory. i could not beleive it was the same guitar.when i get ready to obtain my next ric 12
string ( i'm allways looking ) it will be sent
to mark 1st thing for proper setup. my 360/12 is
now a major addition to many of the songs we play
in my band.

I have three Ricks--a 360/6 FG, a 360/12 MG (the "Twins"), and a 350-D.

I love the 360s. I am an unabashed fan of the high gain pickups.

I acquired the 650 Dakota kinda by accident. I had one too may margaritas one night and put a half-hearted bid in on ebay. It stuck for five days and the brand new 2001 Rick was mine for $600, case, tags, wrenches, poster and all (Is this a good price for this guitar? I've never seen one in a guitar shop or listed in a catalog).

I'm having a bit of trouble bonding with it. It sounds OK (nothing special, but somewhat punchy and fairly versatile), and it's clearly an incredibly well-built guitar, but still...maybe it's not for me. I may sell it and buy a 620 with toasters (is this an option on the 620?). One thing for sure, the compact body on the 650 is great for playing while relaxing in my favorite recliner. It may just win my heart yet. Oh, almost forgot--the bridge on this guitar is one of the best designs for a hard tail that I have ever seen!

Let's see:

1) '89 330 RD/WHT. My baby. Good & all-purpose. Orig. hi-gains.

2) '67 330 FG. Good and jangly. Orig. toasters.

3) '65 360 OS refin natural, tricked out with orig. toaster (neck) and Ric HB-1 (bridge). Lots of sounds in this one.

Now I need another 12-string, sold mine last year. [Anybody got one to sell? A project 12-string would be fine, and I also have some gear to trade. See other posts in this forum.]

Thanks for sharing, guys. I just came from the South Carolina Guitar Show this morning. Boy, was that a mistake! Chris Clayton from Pick of the Ricks was there with some beautiful Ricks. I checked out some of the 600's as Corey suggested. I couldn't get over how compact they are! He had a couple of JL's (6 and 12) and a silver 330, I believe, that really caught my eye. He also had a 360/12v64 and a 1989 360/12 jg! I was like a kid in a candystore...but, with no money. I predict some sleepless nights ahead, conjuring up a way to expand my harem of Ricks!
