Hello, my father had a Rickenbacker in the 1960s - i dont know the model. He had it customised: the neck was shortened and the head changed slightly by Mr Trevor Harnby in Darlington, UK. A plaque was put on the back of the head saying something like: "Customised for Keith Jameson". This guitar was spotted by a friend about 5 years ago in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, at a guitar exhibition at the central station hotel.
I was wondering is anybody knows the whereabouts of this guitar. If so, im trying to get hold of some photos of the guitar for myself and my dad (Keith Jameson). Im sure it still exists (probably worth alot of money now).

Hi there Mark, I too am in the Darlington area and attend local guitar shows as an exhibitor. Rickenbackers are one of my main interests. I can't say that I have seen this guitar but I will certainly keep an eye out for it.

I am always amazed and warmed to think that people travel around the world to meet someone in their neighbourhood through the Rickenbacker Forum.

Well Mark, you've come to the right place. This guitar showed up on Ebay a few years ago. One of The Rickenbacker Forum members bought it. In Feb. of this year, I got this message from a previous owner who was looking for it.

In 1977/8 I used to own a custom built 325? it was finished in trans orange and had a flamed back, and aplate bhind the bridge" custom built for keith Jamieson or similar.I don't know who he is & i bought it in the North east of england. The head was unusual as it had a large scroll at the end and the machine heads were the same as on my Hofner Galaxie. If your interested, i think my mum has aphoto of me playing it somewhere. "

Now, the current owner hasn't frequented these boards in quite a while. I tried to email about this new info but got no reponse. I thought that he'd be happy to hear about this guitar's history. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all your interest in this matter, and thanks to the Rick forum, i didnt think id get a reply as soon as this, fantastic, ive sent the pictures off to my dad (Keith Jameson) so he can see if its the same guitar. Id still love to get hold of some close up pics of the plate on the back of the head, the wherabouts of the guitar and its value (in $ or £). Anyway, he doesnt know that ive done this search, do you think he'll be happy to see his old guitar again?? ... i do
