I have seen a few of these guitars and basses and was wondering when White Tuxedo series came about, how long did it run, and how valuable are the Tuxedo guitars and basses at this time?

I cant answer any of those questions, but I did just get a 1987 360/6 tuxedo (purchased from this site's Kevin Kuney... thanks Kevin!!!).

This guitar has been refinished to a natural mapleglo and the refinisher left the black trimming around the body (around the back perimeter) and also around the sound hole. This one really looks great! As you know, the other main noticable thing about a tuxedo are the fret dots insead of the triangle inlays. Also it uses black harware instead of chrome. Also tuxedo has a maple neck which is nice (body too? I dunno). It also seems to be a bit lighter than my other normal 360 (circa 1980) but I haven't actually weighed them.... this would make sense given the different type of wood used.

I haven't had a chance to do a full side-by-side sound comparison but the tuxedo sounds great out of the small practice amp I tried it on.

I just love my new 360.... "real" or not, it's fantabulous.

My new baby gets baptized tomorrow night at "Kelly O'Niell's" in Waikiki. I still haven't played it with my regular band amp (VOX AC-15) and I'm assuming that the settings and so-forth will be the same as my regular 1980 360/6.

I looked up some info on the 360's (which most of you already know quite well I'm sure). Both the regular 360 and the 360 tuxedo are made from maple. But the regular 360 uses different wood for the actual fretboard (rosewood?) while the tuxedo stays with the maple for the fretboard.
