Pickup pads for the 330

I've received new pads for the high gain pickups and will be replacing them and the strings next weekend. The new pads have adhesive on one side and there is a strip covering it. (like a bumper sticker) Does sticky side of the pad face up or down when installed? I suppose I could wait 'til I remove the old ones but just wanted to know before hand. Thanks.

The sticky side goes against the pickup. I'll take a picture of one of the pickups from one of my 620s and post it later.

I've just replaced the pads on my 1980 330 today Dan. It's really easy to do & really does make a difference when they're as knackered as mine were!

Great! I hope it goes well for me. I tore up the corners of the pads not realizing the corner screws did nothing to adjust the pickup height. I learned a valuable lesson.

Just be a little careful with them Dan, as they are quite fragile.

I took the pads out from under my 350 pickups after 10 years. They were in great shape and had not discoloured the mapleglo finish one bit.

My 1980 330 was quite badly discoloured under the pads, but it hadn't 'bled' into the FG thankfully.
25 years is a long time to be on the gtr I suppose!

These pads are susceptible to ozone. The more citified the environment, the quicker they go.

So if you live in Tracy ,Calif ... they last longer than if you live in Redwood City,Calif !?!?

or are they problematic with methane too ?

Problematic is your word, Larry. If you live in London, they'll go bad quicker than if you live in Montana. How's that for contrast?
Methane? You'll have to do your own testing on that...
