Rick-O-Sound Kits & Weak Bridge PU

I just ordered a Ric-O-Sound kit for my 4003. I finally have two amps and I'm eager to try the Ric-O-Sound feature. I have noticed in the past that my bridge pu is very weak when my toggle switch is in the down position (when just using one amp and plugged into the standard input). Will the Ric-O-Sound kit correct this? Or, will I have to simply turn up the volume on the amp connected to the bridge pu? I have heard that one can opt to do the "bypass modification" where you simply solder a wire around one of capacitors wired to the bridge pu. HELP!

You need to find out some info first ...

1- remove the guard and see if there is a small cap from one of the bottom lugs of the switch to the bridge pickup volume control.

Yes? Then replace it with a piece of wire .That will return the pickup to 'Full' sound.

No? then do this, lower the bridge pickup a few turns on the height screws , plug your bass into your amp set up , make sure the neck pickup is up full against the guard (do not torque the two screws as they are just there to hold it in place , they are NOT reall height adjustment screws .If you over tighten them , you WILL crack the guard .
Now with the bass plugged in , set the selector switch on the neck pickup and play the E string , switch to the bridge pickup .Is that pickups volume lower ? should be .
Now , to set an even balanced volume up raise the bridge pickup till you get even volume on the E and the G strings .
After you do this ....press all the strings down at the last fret , while doing this ...do the strings touch the polepieces of either pickup ?No! ?! Then you are done and all things fine .

Yes !!! they do touch the strings !!!AAAAAHHHHH! Nopw what you ask ?

Lower the neck pickup so it does not touch , then set the volume balance with the bridge pickup .

Sound hard to do ......it is not , it's easy .

Don't ask me WHY do they do it that way ...I hate that question .They just do .This goes for any one on any subject ...I don't know .

Hope this is the answer that you seek .
