Wanted to share this . . .
I've recently been into Modest mouse, and really can identify with their bass player, Eric Judy. He played a vintage P bass on their last album,(Good News for People Who Like Bad News) but played an 80's 4001 (through a B15 Portaflex, awesome tone!) on the previous album,(The Moon and Antarcica). Real melodic and simple bassist.
Anyway I just wanted to share something on their website, the video to " Ocean Breathes Salty".
One of the best music videos I've ever seen.

Thanks for the link, Christopher...Modest Mouse is great, indeed. It's an advantage for a guy my age to be living with someone 13 years younger and very sharp...she keeps me up to date in ways I probably wouldn't be if left to myself. In addition to Modest Mouse, she has hipped me to Stereolab, Pell Mell, Mouse on Mars, Air and a host of bands/musicians from around the world...if it weren't for her, I'd probably go to my grave not knowing who Esquivel was...

Doggone it, Sean! I listened to 'em once when you first sent me the message, and I loved 'em...great energy! My a** was thoroughly kicked...I wanted to send them on to my rocker friends, but I neglected to archive 'em and AOL flushed 'em out of my inbox...would you consider sending them again? If so, I'd be happy to give you a more comprehensive song-by-song review...I'd appreciate it...and I want the tribute CD as well!
Kidney stones or no, you rock like a 'whippersnapper'....

I'm also a big classic rock fan, really dig virtuosos like Geddy, who can throw down with the best of them, AND lay back just as quickly, creating diversity, depth, and dynamics.
Wanted to be a slap n' pop virtuoso when I started out, laughing at pick players, but eventually found my voice using a pick, and still learning how to use it.
Quite the opposite of many bassplayers I meet, who learn with a pick first.

Ok, Red rob...I guess there need to be limits on how supportive us big tough he-men get with each other...wouldn't want things to get 'icky'...
I made the mistake, as a high school freshman in '69, of telling the other members of the marching band drum section that I 'loved' the new Blood, Sweat and Tears album...man, did they ever trash me: "Eeeeuwww, you love it? Why don't you marry it?", etc. I guess the Beatles should have sung "All you need is MUTUAL RESPECT..."
I love all you guys!...er, I mean, HOW 'BOUT THEM BRONCOS?! (butchy face)
