One of my all time dream cars is the early 60's Chevy Impala SS with a 409 under the hood. It looks kinda far off, since the company I work for is being extremely cheap on my pay right now. Oh, well.

Well, I'm not into lowriders, but if it has a 409 I'll take it!!!

Actually, this is the first 4 door I've seen in a 60's Impala. IMHO these are beutiful cars.

Last Spring their was county auction next to where I work and one of the items to be auctioned was a '60's era firetruck. Just the truck keep in mind, all the equipment and logo's were removed, in very nice shape though for a '60s truck. A friend of mine bid $800.00 for it and won.

Turns out it had a Chevy 409 engine, (no one knew!) And the fact that it was a firetruck from a very small town, it had less than 10K miles on it.

Anyway within a week my friend sold the engine to a car collector, then found a buyer for the truck, he smiled all the way to the bank. I cant recall what he got for the engine, but it was a substantial amount.

Man, if I was that guy with the firetruck, I would've kept that engine for a project.

About three years ago, I saw this 1970 Plymouth (Satelite?) that looked like it came fresh out of a barn. Faded blue paint, 4 doors, dog dish hubcaps, etc. Looked like a real granny-car. Well, under the hood was a stock 426 Hemi. Go figure.

My dad worked over 30 years as a body/fender repairman for various Ford dealerships in the Baltimore area....he would bring home those little 1/24th scale give-away promo cars when the new models came out every September.....BUT, I would usually trade the Galaxies for the Impalas , with my friend down the block...hehe!! Shhhhhh.....don't tell my dad! ;^)

During the 50's and 60's many hotrodders bought plain jane cars like that to save weight with huge motors in them, sleepers, they're my favorite motorhead cars. My friend has a 60 Impala with a 409 and a four speed, it's not original though.
