Joe Walsh Slidin' with Glenn Frey
Did anyone watch (as hard as it is to watch them) The Eagles on NBC the other night. Joe played slide with the Glenn Frey Ric on three songs.
Yes Dennis it was a great sight and an outstanding sound. A great advertisement for Rickenbacker. Now, if only they would use a Rickenbacker 12 string for Hotel California.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Is it just my imagination, or are the Eagles better performers today than they were the first time around?

I did catch the Eagles on their "Long Run" tour back when I was a teenager - they were pretty good back then too! Heart opened for them. A very cool show when I think back on it.
I must say, I do miss the combination or Felder/Walsh leads. There was a bit more "spark" between the lead guitars back then.
The new guitarist on the side (not sure of his name either) is very good, but it's obvious that he is a sideman. With Walsh and Felder, there was that little bit of friendly competition that seemed to be going on when the played solo's.
Glenn Frey is also a very good player but given the great talents of the lead players in the Eagles, I think he has always been comfortable laying down the rhythm guitar and concentrating on vocals.
