Do we have any forumites in France? There's a lovely 4001 with all the goodies (except toaster) for local pick up only! ebay

I'm watching it. If it can be had for a good price, I may go to Paris to pick it up myself... still 9+ days left. You're closer to France than I am, aren't you, Lars?

Well this is really tempting! It is possible to get quite inexpensive air tickets to Paris from here. (2 hours flight). But I'll e-mail him and ask why he wont ship. He probably doesn't have the case.

It's 3 hours flight from here... and I haven't been to Paris in 8 years. ;-)

I was surprised to find out that Paris has an amazing number of vintage guitar shops (about 50-60) most of them in one street (can't recall the name), including two bass-only shops, and one just for left-handed basses and guitars. It's a vintage freak's heaven. And the food isn't too bad either ;-)

I went also to see an antique guitar dealer, saw some amazing 18th and 19th century French instruments (they had great luthiers - like Rene Lacote, who invented the scalloped fingerboard) - and not one Vigier.

In short, I need an excuse to go to Paris again. Last time I thought I'll be lost because I don't speak French, but it was fine.

By the way, my first-ever Ric (1973 Jetglo 4001) was purchased in France.

That's nice to know about all the music shops there as my band may go to France next Spring and I really don't want to take a bass with me. I would rather rent something; do they rent Rickenbackers there?

RENT? Why don't you just buy another 4005 while you're there?? Image

We have a least one. I can't recall his name off hand though but he posted here within the past few weeks in the amp head thread. Jean I think.

Got an answer from the seller(he replys in fairly good english), says: as he only got a soft bag for it he's reluctant to ship. (I could ask him to BUY a hard case for it??). Has anybody here experience with shipping a bass in a soft bag?

The Q&A is for everybody to read in the listing.

not all 74's had toasters, I've seen more with high gains than toasters.

Do you really think it is a 74, Bob? I've seen many 73's without the features seen here (CB, FWMOP) Could it be a 72?
