I have a 4003 1984 modell jetglo, (see thread "Rick 4003 1984"). I thing maybee it can have been repainted because of the binding looks to bee original white, but it´s now the same color as the rest. Have anyone seen painted binding before??

I haven't. I would think that either the binding only was painted over by a previous owner to "black it out," or the entire guitar has been re-finished.

Ok, then it´s most likely that the entire guitar has been re-finished, because you hardly can see the binding at all.

If you can't see/feel any lines where the binding might have been masked and can't see/feel any brush strokes over the binding, I would think it has been totally re-finished.

Hey...just arrived from Sweden rock festival. Three days with rock´n roll. F.eks Motorhead, Kansas, Motley, Styx, and many, many more.

I can see binding around body as a thin line if I study in closely. What I find strange, is when I compare the color to other old jetglos on the web, its the same greenesh color. And another question. Did they paint the neck all the way up to the binding?

It was in line with the nut right down to the body, just on the maple so there would be a thin line of Rosewood showing under the binding.

You can contact Rickenbacker using email at [email protected]
Certainly photos can be deceiving, however, the finish on your instrument Frode does not look like a factory finish to me.

Just recived An E-mail from Rickenbacker, and they told me this:

"It was common at points in time to paint over the binding when a Jetglo with
black trim option was requested. It's likely your bass is one of these."

This tells me that my rick can be original painted after all. Agree anyone?
I still can´t find any signs of overpainting/spraying.
