Too much time on my hands got me thinking of a new model - perhaps a 301. Based on the 360/12C64, with 1 pick up , volume and tone control, 2 cat's eye sound holes and a clear pick guard. What do you think guys?

Sorry for the poor quality pic - I'm a novice when it comes to photoshop!

Looks a bit bare in comparison to others, Graham, but not bad at all. Put the controls on the side of the upper bout (a-la electric/acoustic), make the pickguard smaller (so the second cat's eye is exposed) and you've got a potential winner (IMO). How about a 1-11/16 nut width?

Maybe eliminate the control plate altogether, leaving only what would be the upper tier of the pickguard.

Or you could just eliminate the pickguard, too.

How about getting rid of the tone pot, and moving the volume pot to the upper treble bout? (some Gretsch influence, here.)

I'd prefer to have a pickguard, Dennis, but the upper tier idea sounds good (as long as it doesn't cover too much of the sound hole).

How about no controls - it comes complete with a genuine Rickenbacker dual pedal control unit!!

Where do I place my order?

Hasn't created as much interest as I (and probably you) thought, Graham. Keep 'em coming!!

You didn't know that pickup position is optional, Graham?

Yes - you can position the pickup anywhere you like. I only ever use the bridge pick up. I was tempted for no volume or tone control - for an even sleeker look?

Maybe just a small volume pot down near the output jack, Graham? Mount the pickup on small rails and make it adjustable? Or just use Piezo?

Make it available in some of the discontinued colours - Burgundyglo, Autumnglo and especially Montezuma Brown.

I repeat - where do I place my order?

I'd love to see some new designs. Unfortunately, if past "new" designs succeeded, it might be a good idea. Only traditional designs seem to sell.

I think that guitar above looks great!

Is there a six string version available? I'm all about the bridge pick up!

I was wondering just yesterday.....when was the last truly "new" Rickenbacker model introduced (as distinct from a "reissue")?
