Yeah, I said bass solo. "Delicate Sound of Thunder" 1988. Some of you guys might be familiar with this version. Guy Pratt on bass. Sick solo. I think it makes the song more fun but it is over playing.

I've been trying to learn it by ear (I'm good at that) and I almost got it, but one part is confusing. Anyone know of a good site that has live album bass tabs?

the proper term is: young whippersnapper. Blow a wad Howard and get a real bass amp unless you're just going to play in your living room.

I think I just read a not so vieled insult to art of bass playing, and I just helped you out with the proper term for young cocky upstarts, but anyway, most bass players because of the obvious lack of dexterity we all possess end up with really big amps as a kind of compensation to make up for our lack of musical finess. I'm really bad so I always recommend Ampeg SVT's, the old ones, you can play so loud no one even knows what you are playing unless they are in the next club down the street because their and your ears kind of clamp down on themselves as a self-protecion device so you and your customers won't go deaf in one night. They cost quite a wad though, actually truthfully I didn't know you had electricity in Australia, haha! What do you want from a country that started out as a prison. We also all should have been in prison but there was no one here to put us in jail (Australia) when we stole N. America from the Indians.

I bluffed it. I can't be bothered with learning it note for note. Most people don't know the solo anyway and only big Pink Floyd buffs would notice. It sounds pretty much the same the way I do it. Still fun. Bass played up high with an octave lower chorus. Cool sound. The extra low "E" is kinda weird though.

I won't start on the Kiwi's Nate. Even though they talk funny and have the ugliest Prime Minister the world's ever known, it's a great place - especially Auckland and in particular, Waiheke island (in summer)!!

I just hope I can get a band that does that song and will do the "Delicate Sound of Thunder" arrangement. Do you own that album, Howard? If so you'll know what arrangement I'm talking about. A song led by bass and has a bass solo... how not fair (to everyone else ).

Now what bass would I play it on? The custom I ordered with 3 band active EQ for a really clean electronic sound, my Rick for the growl, and it's a Rick , or the P bass I want for the normal Dark Side sound. I don't really like P basses; I'm, not a fan of one pickup, but it's Pink Floyd! I want one of what Roger has. The maple fretboard is my only problem. I don't want to pay $1000 US for a Fender. I would get a replacement but I'm picky and I want the name on it.

Howard, that's a Japanese MTI SVT, I've never tried one, I do know that AC/DC's bass player likes them the best of any SVT so they have to be good. That cab is not good for an SVT, you need a 4 ohm cab for it, splurge and get a real SVT cab, they're not so bad to move. That is a high price for the head at least here in the states. I like the older 70's heads but if that's the going price for an MTI head I'd hate to see what a 70's head would go for. Greg the tech here has an MTI SVT head, ask him how he likes it. But you'll definitely need a 4 ohm cab.
