Best combo for a 4003 ?

Hi,

I wish to purchase a combo for my 4003.
I need 200 W RMS min., 1x15" speaker, rotary tone controls + graphic EQ, bass booster/enhancer, D.I. output.

I want my sound to have its characteristic Rick tone, but with deep low-end frequencies enhanced. The purpose is pop/rock music.

I considered an Ampeg B2 and an Ashdown ABM-115C-500. What about them ? Any other suggestion ?

Thanks in advance,

All the best,

Jean-- Take a close look at an Eden combo. High quality materials & build, and great tone that's versatile.

As a source of great bass stuff go to

http://www.bassnw.com

this is a Bass only store in Seattle Washington USA and has lots of stuff plus...they are extremely knowledgeable about bass gear ...not just a bunch of clowns selling stuff.

I used an Ampeg B2 combo (the 4x8 version, which is no longer available) with my 4001 for quite a while, and was generally satisfied with the sound quality & tone (I found it preferable to Hartke or GK or lower-end SWR). It wasn't quite loud enough for a rock band (50W Mesa/Boogie DC-5, hard-hitting drummer) without an extension cabinet, though. I don't recall it having a "bass boost" feature, but it has a bass tone control & graphic eq. In the states you should be able to find one used for $500 or less.

What I'm gonna say is stupid, but I guess I'll have to go to Pigalle, in Paris, for that amp. In my district, retailers have almost nothing except Hughes & Kettner or Fender bass amps. Incredible, but true.

Gonna have a 500 miles drive soon, and as many to come back home...
