A stack-knob 4001 guard. Cool idea. It greatly simplifies the look of the controls.

You think that's just a 4000 pickguard that someone put stack-pots in? It has holes for finger rest.

Someon must have butchered an old 4000 with a thumb rest and converted it to a 4001 and kept the pickguard two hole. I wonder if both pots fit in the cavity without digging into the wood?

Whatever it is, I'm just itching to hit that $250.00 BIN button.

Must...Hold......BACK!

Why go to the trouble of cutting the neck pickup hole only to not drill two more control holes? It may not be a genuine Rickenbacker guard. Something about the shape does not look right.

Bob: The cavity is plenty deep for stack pots.

Looks more like a (legit) early, not mid, '70s 4000 guard. Neck p.u. hole on it definitely not factory cut, though. Stack pots not stock either.

I thought at first it may have been a 4000 guard from the 60's that's been routed for a bass p/up. I think Sergio's estimate is closer though.
Checking out the picture of the 4000 bass on 102 of Smith's book it looks quite similar, but the E bay guard looks just a little shorter at the area where the treble pick up meets it.

I actually thought early 70's also because of the thumbrest holes.

The pickup placement on it looks kind of strange, not quite 1/2" or 1".
