A question: Recently, I got the "Willin'"- release, titled "Live In Goteborg 1967" (Stockholm radio interview, in fact...). However, the 4 last songs (Lover Of The Bayou, Willin', Black Mountain Rag and Positively 4th Street) must be from the 71 or 72 tour? Anyone knows which show?

Weren't those last four songs taken from a live recording in Louisville in '71 I think?

I have The Byrds box set which includes these tunes.

The notes in the box set booklet identify the live recording date as being February 28, 1970 for Lover of the Bayou, Willin', Black Mountain Rag.

They were recorded live at Queen's College, New York.

Positively 4th Street was recorded in January 1970 live at The Felt Forum, New York. No specific date is given for this recording.

Personnel on these tracks are;

Roger McGuinn - 12 string guitar/vocals
Clarence White - guitar/vocals
Skip Battin - bass/vocals
Gene Parsons - drums/guitar/banjo/vocals

I don't know if these are the same versions of the songs mentioned in the opening post of this thread or not. But thought that I would mention it for what its worth.

Wow, I never knew the Clarence White Byrds had done Hey Joe!!! I figured that one left the yrds
after Crosby was fired.Croz was the one who brought the tune to the band...and sang it on 5-D.
Love to hear Clarences' input on that one.

Hey Don. The first 6 songs are from 1967, when The Byrds went to Stockholm. Songs 7-10 are from 1970.

Uhh, let's not Even go there....

Clarence was around during the "Younger than Yesterday" sessions, altho that was a year or so before the b bender...and they were apparently doing alot of their own thing during some of those sessions...like David didnt want to sing on "Time Between" until he heard the tune with one of the Gosdin Bros (Vern?)singing his harmony part. The acoustic rhythm on that track is Gosdin, tho.

The version with Gosdins harmony was apparent not saved.

Clarence did play on some spacy stuff...in a mid 60 hippy trippy sort of way in his session work...check out the "Tuffy and Stringy" CD...but nothing out there like "Mind Gardens"
