Fathers day here in UK you North Americans will have something similiar and those in OZ.

Just opened my first card and had a good laugh thought I would share it because it's appropiate.

Card is headed TOP OF THE POPS shows a dog with ear phones on and the wording goes

We Know you hate our hip hop
Don't understand our rap
But You can't criticise it
Cos' your taste in music's ****!!

Need to get rid of my record collection on E Bay cause my offsprings will just dump it.

Roy. No, they'd auction it on Ebay. They might not rate the music but they'll probably realise there's money to be made from your collection!

That's a great message, Roy.

Spot on, Tim. They wouldn't be silly enough to ignore the value of that lot!!

I've got to wait until September for Father's day... hope my kids have saved up for a Rick!! Image

More than likely it'll be the usual boxer shorts or T-shirt......... I'll end up paying for it myself anyway!

Kids always know it better... 8-)
I'll never forget my 8-years-old's comment about me she made to her friend at school at New Year party not so long ago (she thought i wasn't listening): "Yeah, my mom's very old but she's cool enough, she still can dig Green Day and even Black Eyed Peas!" Eh... i truly felt ooooooold that day 8-)
Just found this thread - couldn't resist 8-)

Hey Ya! You're never too old to be hip...I recently scored major points with a 16-year-old just for knowing who this guy is:

When my young friend found out that: a) I'm a big fan of Andre 3000 and, b) I play a bass like that one, well let's just say I instantly became the coolest old man that kid knows...

It's not so difficult, really...just leave the windows of your mind open and let a little fresh air in, 'Daddy-O'...

Well I dob't mind admitting I do not have a clue who he is and probably don't want to, call me old fashioned.

Jeepers, Roy, I'm just tryin' to help out....what's not doin' it for ya, is it the hat?

For those who don't know...this is a still from the video for 'Hey Ya' (by Outkast), one of the cleverest and most effective music videos of the last decade...not to mention the highest profile display of a Ric since Susanna Hoffs.

(I betcha John Hall knows who this guy is...)

Until you're 50, you're not even "middle age" according to my scale, Dane... 8-) (eh... i BET there's something wrong with grammar in that sentence, but what?..)
Call me ooooold... but i cannot identify this guy... 8-( and i don't dig hip-hop as well... as well as rap... 8-)

Well, that means I'll be "middle aged' in 6 weeks...I should be prepared, I've been studying up for it my whole life.

Check out the 'Hey Ya' video if you can find it...maybe MTV or VH1's websites. You might find you can dig it, after all...

"Shake it like a Polaroid..."

I'm sure you'll be well-prepared... Image
Oh, BTW... forgot to mention... Mousie just got a "kick-back" today... her school friend said Green Day is too old-fashioned... Image

Not having a go Dane, as we say over here, just a statement of fact.

Oh, BTW...
Both "Big bad John" and especially "Small sad Sam" are rap of sorts... Image

Good point, Sheena...so, for that matter, is "A Boy Named Sue"...and numerous other examples...

Roy...gotcha, man...not 'having a go' from this end either. I still think you might like that video, though...it may not be deathless art, but it's good for a laugh, at least, and very well produced. Whether you end up liking it or hating it, you'll have something to 'rap' about with the kids...
