I saw a new Beatlesque band the other night. "The Click Five" is a modern day pop group with an edge that's not unlike The Beatles. Highly professional group of guys, matching suits, etc. Their new CD comes out this Fall.

They advertize themselves as "New School Power Pop". Kinda like a power pop version of the Backstreet Boys (with whom they'll be doing a tour this summer). Their song "Just the Girl" is kinda catchy. They definitely are hooking into that 60s retro Beatle-esque (actually more like the Dave Clark 5) look in the same way "The Knack" did in the late 70's and early 80's.

Aren't those the guys who opened for Ashlee Simpson? Sorry, I would know that... I'm a big fan of hers.

I was going to bring up The Knack also, there's nothing new anymore. Power pop version of the Backstreet Boys? Wow can't wait to pick that one up.... well maybe after my Lawrence Welk complete box set of 20th century polkas.

Power pop version of the Backstreet Boys in that they are being packaged as cutsie teen idols. I dont know about their songs, but they will be touring with the Backstreet Boys. I know, not my cup of tea either.

somehow they remind me of these guys... In 7th grade I thought DD&B were WAY COOL! (boy, was I a dork or what?)
And just when you thought they had gone away forever...

Dino's basses were way cool in those days, and still are! What year was his Hofner?

Too bad about Dino, and that is an EB-3 or EB-0 in that picture above, I also remember him with a Hofner too. Hey looks like there's a bass spot open.

Dino originally played an EB-3, 2 PU bass.Billy had a doublebound 360 FG, and a roundtop 360-12 FG.At least those were the 2 I've ever seen him with.

Speaking of Dino- Even though he wasn't what you'd call a major star, he seemed to have everything- looks, some talent, a famous Dad, and definitely a McCartney fixation. I recall seeing him in DD & B pics trying to emulate a McCartney expression on his face, and of course a Hofner. He seemed to mature into a 'normal' guy, and for some weird reason (and I'm not particularly a fan) i still find it hard to believe he's no longer on this planet. Some people just seem like they're always going to be here, even if they're not. I feel the same way about Buddy Holly. He just seemed such a part of rock history, he COULDN'T have died in such a horrible manner. Rick Nelson, too. Maybe it's a plane crash thing. Or maybe I'm just weird...

He was in the (I think) Air Force Reserve and collided w/ a mountain. Supposedly, that's what started his father's decline. It was a couple of painful days before they found the wreckage.
