HEY EVERYBODY! A FEW QUICK QUESTIONS
1. WITH WHAT GAUGE OF COPPER WIRE ARE STANDARD RICK BASS PICKUPS WOUND?
2. IS THE PICKUP WIRE INSULATED OR BARE?
3.HOW MANY TIMES IS IT WRAPPED AROUND?
4. ARE THE BRIDGE PICKUP AND THE NECK PICKUP THE SAME? (EXCEPT FOR THE CROME COVER ON THE NECK PU)
5. IS THERE A BOBBIN OR IS THE COIL JUST WRAPPED DIRECTLY AROUND THE MAGNETS?
6. WHAT IS THE CHROME COVER FOR AND WOULD I CHANGE THE SOUND OF M BASS REMOVING IT?

4- The guitar pickups are identical on the newer guitars ...originally the neck pickups had shorter polepieces ,
then they were the same ,
then they were short ,
then they were button tops ,
then they offered both types....things evolve .
5-There is a bobbin for all the pickups
6- the cover is there to hold the whole assembly together and to provide some RF shielding
With out the cover the bobbin has no way to be attatched to either the face of a guitar or to a pickguard.

ACTUALLY, NOW THAT U MENTION IT. YEAH I AM GOING TO BE TRYING TO BUILD A GUITAR IN THE FUTURE. I WAS GOING TO TRY TO BUILD MY FIRST ORIGINAL PICKUP AND I WAS LOOKING AT SPECS FROM SOME OF THE COMPANIES. I WAS MORE INTERESTED IN RICKENBACKER THOUGH. IM NOT TRYING TO BREAK COPYRIGHT LAWS AND GET MY *** SEWED. ANYWAYS, THANKS.
