. . . on eBay from Guitar Parts Resource for $114 incl. shipping. Hope I made the right choice. Looked it up on Hipshot's site and it retails for $145. Too late now, but is GPR an OK outfit?

This will go on the Monte along with the plexi bridge pickup surround from Pickguardian. Now I'll be able to palm mute and pick with no obstructions. What do the Jeffs think?

I've bought a few parts from Bass Parts Resource and they always sent the item in great shape and pretty quickly....they did however, refuse to leave me feedback on several occasions and after several emails requesting feedback and stating that I was pleased with the item and had left them positive feedback on the first few purchases, I left them a neutral...Well THAT got their attention and they responded with a neutral... no big deal but it's just one of my pet peeves when power sellers are too lazy or high and mighty to leave feedback.

I know you'll love not having the mute assembly, plus the added flexibilty and ease of set up. I got mine from Hipshot so I can't comment on GPR.

Hi Jeff,

Just to make sure I have this correct. The Hipshot fits exactly to the existing screw holes, and appears to have no real change in the sound of the standard bridge, yet offers better setup?

No drilling required! I have mine on a fretless so I can't vouch for any sound changes, but I am pretty sure you will love the Hipshot for what it offers.

GPR's website says they're out of stock? I'm going to buy one of those bridges.

Yeah, GPR had just that one on eBay and didn't indicate they had more. It was up for just under one hour when I pressed the BIN.

you can buy them directly from Hipshot ... I am thinking of getting one and turning it into a 5 string bridge ...

Their site says that they are instock. I could at least add one to my cart for $109.

It doesn't look like it's a direct replacement however.

Another has popped up on eBay as BIN only, so they probably have plenty.

It is a direct replacement. The mounting screws are underneath the top cover, I believe.

Be sure to ask for the longer screws (1 1/4 & 1 1/2). Thay come stock with 1" and that's not long enough

Two screws are under the saddles using the outer holes from the three that are hidden under the RIC bridge saddles. The other two are where you'd expect them, just in front of the tail.

Andy, I assume you mean the machine screws that adjust the intonation? The wood screws for mounting couldn't be longer without going through the body of the bass! I tried to intonate, and the saddles for the A, D, and G strings are out at the limit and still intonate a tad flat. I'll give them a call about longer screws.
