Saw The Bravery for my first time on the Leno show the other night (showing 2 weeks late in Malaysia). The bass player uses a black Ric, 4003 I think. Lot of new groups it seems doing the techno-rock style now.

Amazon.com review for The Bravery's first album.
3 out of 5 stars Rocking with Rickenbackers, June 21, 2005
Reviewer: Michael Randel
This seems to me a somewhat lackluster, IAA/MTV-focused offering, but the talent is certainly there, and there are some good tracks...honest mistake is one of the best top forty songs I've heard since the Cardigans way back in the day, but I'm an old punk who avoids radio.
The coolest aspect of this band to any discerning ear is that the bass player uses a Rickenbacker. To those wondering, it's a brand of bass that has a very unique sort of hard buzzy sound, made famous by the likes of Yes (before they sucked,) the Who, and others better than most. The Bravery guy plays it pretty damn well, too; no Entwhistle, but damn well. Being able to hear largely bass-driven tunes with a Rickenbacker is a rare experience and worth the ten bucks to me, but a lot of people could care less.
Also, on Conan, the lead guy had a devilock.
--------------------------
I have NO idea what a devilock is.

Not a very flattering description of a Ric, that is the rep they have been trying to live down for years now IMHO. If I got a hard buzzy sound I'd sell mine the next day.

I think the devilock is made by B.C.Rich.

That song by the Bravery the reviewer mentions, "An Honest Mistake" is pretty good. I downloaded a bunch of new songs I'd read about from walmart.com with a free download card I won on the radio, and that song is pretty good. Very 80's new wave, would sit nicely on an 80's dance or new wave mix.

In his Bass Player magazine interview Mike H. says that he mostly used a J bass on the recording.

Keep on buying those Bravery records. They're one of my artists. The more bonuses I make the closer I am to a new RIck!!!!

Did anybody out there see The Bravery on the BBC coverage of the Glastonbury festival. They had to cut away because of Mike H from the Bravery's decision to go butt naked....very brave.
It must have been chilly...by the looks of things.

The Bravery played the Glastonbury festival last weekend and Mike played two Rics...a jetglo 4001 with black pickguard and a white 4001 with black pickguard.
I wasn't there but watched the set on the telly...only trouble was that it was broadcast live and got cut short.....Mike was playing barechested but he decided to stip off and play completely naked!

Hey Chris, are you allowed to tell who your other artists are?
