Pyramids on a 4003?

So I splurged and bought a set of Pyramid bass strings. Right now i'm playing a stock 4003, though I am thinking of adding one of the Vintage Reissue 4001's to my arsenal.

My question is, do Pyramids sound better with vintage pickups then hi-gains? I assume they were designed to work with older basses, so i'm just thinking that they might not be as good on a 4003.

Does anyone here use Pyramids with a stock 4003?

Many of us do, they sound great on 4003's. I have two new 4003's with them and a new 4003FL that's going to come with them installed.

I have 'em on an '80 4003 with hi-gains and an '84 4001S with toaster/horseshoe. Sound great on both.

I've had Pyramids on my 4003S from the time I bought it, and I wouldn't use anything else.

TI flats are nice for old 4001's, sound very much like the original equipment strings that came on them to me.
