Classic black, maple fretboard, it's so right! Almost reminds me of a 70's Precision, but with much more class to it.

Oh, I could have fun dirtying up that fretboard. My Musicman Sterling looked like that when I got it, it's now filthy, but in a good way, sorta.

Or is that fretboard lacquered?

The early Laredos (like this one) had a lacquered maple fretboard. Beautiful bass, if you like black.

My 4004L has become one of my favorite gigging and recording basses ... I rewired mine and added a 5th string and run it into a bass pod ... it kicks *** ... I also put a white trc on it ... and yes mine has a thick clear lacquer finished fretboard ...

I think the price is a bit high, but it would be a good start point for an orange flame custom paint job.

Nah, Jared. My idea would be to have a retro 50's flame job with lots of chrome. I think that would look really cool.

I may talk myself into that bass if I keep going like this.
